BistiArt > Primordial Bisti
“In the beginning, there was the Heavens and the Earth…” Genesis 1:1
Can you imagine what Earth might have looked like some 4 billion years ago?
As we wandered the Bisti Badlands several years ago, light’s confluence seemed supercharged by a stormline about to devour the soft clay ground with driving rain.
Our interpretation of this image is almost surreal; the dark clouds are offset by bright blue, clear skies. Red hills seem to leap from beneath the cloud’s dark, foreboding brow. The sun’s setting glow turns the nearby hoodoos to gold.
BistiArt > Red Mountain
High Colorado Autumn, ~ 5 PM, Sun to set in about 45 minutes, early autumn snows had already frozen aspen leaves at higher elevations. This scene was emblazoned on my memory, creating deep, exciting aspen memories to follow many other memories from former years.
Unfortunately, there was no place to put a tripod, no place to stand stably, and no place to get high enough.
So, I backed the car to just the right spot, climbed on the car trunk on my knees, took a series of hand-held panos with camera vertical for 4 shots, then artfully stitched in Photoshop CS2...
This is one of my all-time favorite shots, as difficult as it was to take, then stitch.
BistiArt > St John Paul
Head held high under a Pontiff's hat, hands seemingly folded in prayer, cassock falling far to the ground, St John Paul seems to be leading a Heavenly Host through the Celestial Heavens. Can you find the folded hands?
BistiArt > God's Boot
This image puzzled me for days after shooting it; where had I seen an image like it before. Cleaning my closet, I saw some ski mukluks.
Then I knew; this was an image of one of the work boots God left behind after He created the Bisti...
